Frequently asked questions

What is the ideal itinerary for a 5-night 6-day Kashmir tour?

A perfect 5-night plan includes 3 nights in Srinagar, 1 night in Pahalgam, and 1 night in a luxury Houseboat. This duration allows for a full-day excursion to Sonamarg (the Meadow of Gold) and dedicated days for the Gulmarg Gondola and the cinematic valleys of Pahalgam without feeling rushed.

Is Sonamarg accessible year-round in this 6-day plan?

Sonamarg is best visited from April to October. During peak winter (December to February), the road to Sonamarg often closes due to heavy snowfall. If you are traveling in winter, this day is typically replaced with an excursion to Doodhpathri or extra time in the snow-clad meadows of Gulmarg.

What are the common "hidden costs" to watch for in Kashmir?

Most packages exclude specific local costs required by unions. You should budget extra for local taxis in Pahalgam for Aru/Betaab Valley (approx. ₹2,500), Thajiwas Glacier ponies in Sonamarg, and Gondola tickets in Gulmarg (₹950 for Phase 1; ₹1,550 for Phase 2). Always verify if your 2026 quote includes these to avoid on-trip surprises.

Can we customize this 6-day plan for a honeymoon?

Absolutely. We can add romantic inclusions like a private candle-light dinner on the houseboat and flower bed decorations in Pahalgam.

Which mobile network works in Kashmir, and do I need a special SIM?

Only Postpaid SIM cards work in Jammu & Kashmir due to security regulations. Prepaid SIMs from outside the state will stop working the moment you enter. Jio and Airtel currently offer the best 5G coverage in Srinagar, Gulmarg, and Pahalgam. If you only have a prepaid SIM, you can easily purchase a local "Tourist SIM" at the Srinagar airport or local markets using your Aadhaar card.

Is it safe to travel to Kashmir with family in 2026?

Absolutely. Kashmir remains a top-tier domestic destination in 2026 with enhanced security and a dedicated Tourist Police force in all major hubs like Srinagar and Gulmarg. While the region is sensitive, tourist circuits are highly monitored and safe for families, couples, and solo travelers. We recommend staying updated with local news and sticking to the primary tourist routes.
